Keeping a Spiritual Journal
By Reverend Corinne S. Ramage.
When you commit to the serious journey deeper into your spirituality,
it is important to document your evolution. With this commitment your
life will change as you will be offered new opportunities for spiritual
growth. Each entry will be a step towards revelation. Each entry in itself
may be a revelation in retrospect.
A journal is a valuable tool for personal reflection and also gives you
a vehicle for expression if you choose to share with a group of fellow
spiritual seekers.
Consider the following:
- Purchase a notebook or a bound blank book that you can carry with
you. It is important for you to be able to record your entries as often
as your lifestyle or work schedule allows.
- You will be recording your thoughts, feelings or impressions. When
something touches your Heart or your Soul, record those feelings. If
a thought occurs to you that is a bridge between who you are and what
you want to become, record that thought. If you meet someone who somehow
touches your Soul and you begin to remember something deep within yourself,
record that experience. If your Heart draws you into a situation that
is not logical, record your impressions.
- This journal is specifically for what calls to your Heart and beckons
to your Soul. This journal is not about documenting an incident. It
is about the journey within self. It is about the part of you that is
awakening. This means your sentences may be incomplete, as well as your
feelings and impressions. To the best of your ability, record your experiences
without judgment.
- Trust in your experience. With the intent to begin a spiritual journey,
your life is guaranteed to change as the Divine is always listening.
You may not be alert enough to hear or notice the answers, but your
prayers are always answered.
Note: Joining a spiritual group, taking on-line
classes or meeting with a spiritual
counselor will add to your growth.
